Middleton Lodge was built by Leonard Hartley in 1780 as a family home. Designed by John Carr, it still retains many untouched original features. As an Estate, it forms a typical and unusually complete Georgian estate comprising of the main house, coach house, stables, Victorian greenhouses, kennels, walled garden, gardeners cottages, gatehouse, farmhouse, secret garden and well.
As a backdrop for anything from period dramas to a contemporary country manor, The Lodge has everything you need. We can provide high class accommodation on site for longer shoots and are well equipped to provide day to day catering.
The Inner Hall needs to be seen to be fully appreciated. The drawing room is a stunning mix of old plasterwork and fine furnishings, with a Steinway grand piano. The french windows open up onto the outdoor terrace and croquet lawn, with open views across private parkland.
The Lodge has appeared in the past in Vogue, on the BBC and in a Bollywood film.
