Middleton Lodge can cater for a variety of different events such as balls & private parties. We can cater comfortably for up to 65 guests in the house or for larger events (up to 180) we use our permanent Marquee. About the Flower School

The day will commence at 10:00am with coffee and pastries before a brief Flower School introduction from Briar House Flowers. You’ll be introduced to everybody and Briar House will begin with a short explanation of flower preparation before you begin to arrange your bouquets and buttonholes.

You will learn how to condition flowers, how to choose the right seasonal flowers in order to keep costs down for your wedding (it's also much more sustainable) and you'll discover all you need to know about flower markets, both here in the North East and elsewhere in the country.

Briar House will prepare flowers for you as you learn how to complete the last stages of ‘conditioning’ and in a hands on creative class you’ll be taught how to spiral the flowers to make a beautiful bouquet. You’ll then be shown how to bind with ribbon and fasten with pearl pins as Briar House offers advice, tips and tricks of the trade! You’ll be given lots of ideas for other fastenings and we’re confident you’ll be inspired to experiment at home.

After a delicious two course lunch cooked by Middleton Lodge’s very own award winning head chef Robert Taylor you’ll be given a demonstration on how to make a buttonhole. You’ll be shown how to create these with an array of flowers - both modern and traditional and you’ll even get to craft a buttonhole yourself.

Finally, Briar House will demonstrate how to make a range of different table centres, such as gorgeous arrangements to place inside a globe vase, vintage looking tea cups and saucers, flower wreath rings to wrap around storm lanterns, storm lanterns with water retaining crystals and lots more!

You’ll be guided through the day by Felicity and Kirstie of Briar House Flowers and they’ll be on hand to assist and inform in what is expected to be an exciting afternoon of fabulous floristry here at Middleton Lodge.

Flowers, aprons and secateurs will be provided for all and you'll even get to take home your hand crafted bouquet and buttonhole (both worth in excess of £80).
